March 2008: Inbrief

Quote of the Month:

People often say with pride, “I’m not interested in politics.”  They might as well say, “I’m not interested in my standard of living, my health, my job, my rights, my freedoms, my future, or any future.” Martha Gelhorn, Novelist, Essayist, and War Correspondent

Highlights:

The battle begins: dun dun DUN.  Tree pollen season is here.   So far, I’m feeling good. I just need to do 6-10 nasal irrigations a day and shower each time after I go outside.  Beats getting chronic sinus infections.

Spring Break: Lots of teen boys in my basement playing computer games, lots of empty glass bowls in the dishwasher from ramen making. I also went clothes shopping with the daughterling. She brought a friend for consulting, I brought a book, and in the end I was rewarded with French fries.  Love having a daughter who accepts that her mom is not a shopper.

TV Enjoyed:

***1/2 Living in Tokyo, on YouTube (Not really TV but I’m dying for new stuff, so close enough)

Friendly guy with a cynical sense of humor tells me what it’s like to live in Tokyo in some 52 short episodes.

****Supernatural, rewatching season 1:

It’s not just the pretty boys.  They’re yummy but they’re also interesting characters in satisfying plots with excellent use of music– and I don’t usually even like metal. Can’t wait for new episodes to start again!
